About CPUH
Recognizing the fact that there is a large gap in the number of quality institutes of higher education in rural areas as compared to urban areas and the report of National Knowledge Commission 2006, an initiative of the legendary Career Point Group, which is in the field of education since 1993, the Career Point University Hamirpur was established by the Government of Himachal Pradesh vide Act No. 12 of 2012 under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
The University is UGC approved, NAAC Accredited, ARIIA and NIRF-MoE, Government of India ranked and is a member of AIU, Delhi. The University is empowered by the University Grants Commission (UGC), a statutory body of the Government of India, for the award of degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.
The University is situated in a rural area facing the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, providing students with an inspiring and peaceful environment for education.
Our Journey
The University was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. P.K. Dhumal in August 2012 and became functional in the same year. With a humble beginning of 96 students, the University has grown significantly in size and stature and has emerged as an institution of repute in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
As of today, the University has 10 departments and 5 divisions offering degree courses in 55 branches. The University has a faculty and staff strength of 135 employees.
Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Community Development
Apart from academics, the University has emerged as a leader in the state with a Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) established by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. It is the first of its kind in Himachal Pradesh and third in the entire north zone.
The University also has a Pioneer Incubator under the CM Startup Scheme by the Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, a Military Training Center, a Center for Innovation, Skill Enhancement & Entrepreneurship, Center for Co-operative Studies & Placement, Center for Traditional Medicines & Yoga and the Directorate of Community Services for the upliftment of rural communities.
The University has signed MoUs with various organizations and institutions for the benefit of students, faculty and society. It has also collaborated with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
Academic Excellence
At CPUH, we follow a time-tested and nationally and internationally acclaimed education system. The University provides a wide range of programmes and courses in Engineering and Technology, Computer Applications and Information Technology, Sciences, Business Management, Legal Studies, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences, Ayurveda, Hotel Management, Hospitality, Journalism, Tour & Travel Management, Digital Marketing, Microbiology, Arts, Commerce, Yoga, Naturopathy, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Physical Education and Languages.
The University has a flexible, academic and ICT-enabled learning system along with value-added courses, with a focus on basic research, innovations, technology transfer and extension activities aimed towards the upliftment of society.
Alumni & Student Achievements
The University has more than 3,000 alumni, including researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs serving both in India and abroad. Our students have achieved success in competitive examinations and research careers, bringing recognition to the University.
Community Services
The Directorate of Community Services of the University has adopted villages across the state and has worked towards supporting farmers through crop diversification and adoption of modern technologies.
The University has also organized yoga camps and various community initiatives for the benefit of society. It has provided opportunities for free online coaching to students belonging to Himachal Pradesh for preparation for competitive examinations.
Vigyan Darshan
The University has launched the “Vigyan Darshan” programme to promote scientific thinking among students. The initiative follows the idea of connecting leading scientists and innovators with school students to inspire them towards science, innovation and research.
